Tides

It’s been a long while since I’ve posted on my blog. Life’s tides continue, each day offering an opportunity for renewal.

My good friend from Clonakilty (Clon), Ireland–the old sod of the Donovan clan from whence I came–recently sent me a link to a fabulous BBC video about nearby Inchydoney Beach, where erosion is taking a toll on the shores.

Dena O’Donovan, who with brother Tommy owns O’Donovan’s Hotel in Clon, is featured in the segment. She shares her history with the waters that she continues to dip into early every morning, no matter how frigid the temps might be, and her efforts among other locals to work with scientists studying how to control the erosion that threatens this special place.
